Hello, Sysnative and Thank-you for your time.

I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, and I'm having the usual windows update errors (800b0100,80073712, etc), which I think started early in 2014. I've tried the usual MS fix-it, Windows update troubleshooter, SFC Scannow, malware scans, and the problem still exists. I was unable to update to IE11 as it stops at 98% install, and I've had to hide a growing list of updates. I am able to install the latest virus definitions for MS Security Essentials, and the System Readiness Tool installed perfectly. I'm not a novice to working with PC's, but I think I have a corrupted file or missing update somewhere, and I also noticed in the Event Viewer, many side by side errors. I have attached my CBS Log folder that contains my CBS Log, SFC scan details, and the latest failed update summary from event viewer. Any help would be appreciated. Cheers, uncleglennie.

I think I sent you an imcomplete attachment for my thread, but I'm not sure as how to attach the new file to this thread. Help please.

I didn't really expect any help with this problem, seeing all these threads and knowing how overwhelmed you guys must be. So like any caring father would do for his daughter, I decided to tackle this problem myself. What I did was copy all the missing or corrupted files from a similar PC running the same 64bit OS. Then I copied the old files to a folder on my desktop just in case. I then ran the SUR tool which created the proper folders in C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur, such as the Manifests, and Packages folders. Then I inserted the replacement files I got from the other PC into those folders. I then copied the replacement payload files directly into the folders containing the corrupted ones and replaced them. I reran the SUR tool (CheckSur) and it found and fixed all my corrupted files. I then ran SFC Scannow and it found no errors. I ran windows update again to test it, and it installed every update that errored except 2 updates which I now know were the ones that caused all this in the first place. So I just hid those updates, and now windows update works like a charm. Thanks again, and keep up the good and helpful work.

Hello uncleglennie

Firstly, I am very sorry no one got to your thread in time, we are flat out here. Great job at sourcing the replacements and getting the files fixed up :)

Did you want to upload the CBS folder again for me to look over to ensure everything is all good?

Thanks

Alex

Thanks Alex, but there is no need to upload the CBS folder again. Unless I run into more problems, then I'll just start a new thread. Cheers, uncleglennie.
