OS: Windows Vista 64-bit, Service Pack 2

My dad is having several windows update problems. He contacted Microsoft and after he tried what they told him to do, they said they couldn't help him any further because they no longer support Vista. He and I tried restarting/activating the windows update services, etc. but nothing worked.

He also tried to reset the windows update components based on the microsoft website and my dad noted the following registry problems with 13 modules. He was told to type "cd /d %windir%\system32" in the command prompt then press enter. The instructions then said Reregister BITS files and the WIndows Update files. The following are the files that he had an error with:
- regsvr32.exe shtml.dll, shdocvw.dll, browseui.dll (Entry point dllregisterserver not found)
- regsvr32.exe msxml.dll, gpkcsp.dll, sccbase.dll, slbcsp.dll, initpki.dll, wuaueng1.dll, wucltui.dll, wups2.dll, muweb.dll (Failed to Load)
- regsvr32.exe qmgr.dll (Was loaded but entry point not found)

He also tried configuring proxy settings by typing "netsh winhttp reset proxy" (did not work).

Just now I did a "sfc /scannow" in the cmd and got these results: Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are located in the CBS log (attached, please see CBS-.zip instead of CBS.zip).

Any help would be much appreciated!

I forgot to post the actual error when updating: Code 80070426

(Sorry for the multiple posts, I didn't see a way for me to edit my previous posts)
