[SOLVED] Windows update error code 80070490

I have windows 7 installed and all of a sudden when I try to update any of the 24 available the update downloads and tries to install but at the last moment fails and I get the error code 80070490. It does not matter which update I try.

I have followed all the steps here Windows Update Forum Posting Instructions but still have the same problem. I do not have any other problems.

I have also run the microsoft troubleshooter and fix to no avail.

Further investigation has found that trustedinstaller.exe is missing. I expect this is causing the issue but do not know how to fix it.

Found even more problems so biting the bullet and doing a system upgrade install.

FYI the system upgrade install fixed all the problems.
