Good morning.

I'm receiving the 80074090 error when the following updates try to run:
Security update for Windows 7 for x64-based systems (KB3071756)
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3068708)
Security update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (kB3033929)
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3060716)
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (kb3040272)
Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3080149)
Security Update for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB3126587)

I ran the SFC/scannow option and received the following error:
Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them.
When the .log file is generated, I am unable to open, receiving an Access Denied error.

Checksur.log indicates no errors detected.

What do I need to do next
Thank you.

Very good. Let's take a look at what SFC detects.

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please zip and attach this to your next post.

I don't see the attachment.

Try uploading the zip to a file sharing service such as OneDrive, DropBox, SendSpace, etc. and include the link with your reply.

Excellent. Let's verify the replacement with SFC.

SFC Scan

Looks good :)

Please check for updates and attempt to install any that are offered.
If updates fail to install, zip and attach CBS.log with your reply.

Just tried to get updates. Same story - Code 80070490.
I've tried to run it twice and same story both times.

What next?
Thank you.

Is it the check for updates that is failing or the installation?

If it's the installation, try to install the updates again and once they fail zip and attach the CBS log with your reply.

Check for updates does fine. The install fails, though. Still the 80070490 error.
I ended up copying the CBS log file to my desktop to get it to zip.
Zip file is available through Dropbox:
Dropbox - cbs.zip

Looks like a problem with KB2949927. Does this update appear in the list of installed updates?

If so, please try to uninstall it.

Code:
2016-04-26 14:50:44, Error CBS Failed to resolve package 'Package_134_for_KB2949927~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~6.1.1.5' [HRESULT = 0x80070490 - ERROR_NOT_FOUND]

Let's try uninstalling it anyway.

Install Update with DISM

  1. Download the update MSU here: Download Windows6.1-KB2949927-x64.msu from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way
  2. Copy the MSU file to a convenient location (such as C:\temp).
  3. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  4. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  5. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    cd C:\temp

replace C:\temp with your path if different

    expand {update name}.msu -f:* C:\temp

replace {update name} with the name of the MSU file downloaded in step 1

    DISM.exe /Online /Remove-Package /PackagePath:C:\temp\{update name}.cab

  6. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
Restart Windows to complete this operation.
Do you want to restart the computer now (Y/N)?

  7. Make sure to allow the computer to restart if prompted.

If you receive any other message:
  8. Right-click on the Command Prompt window and click Select All, this will invert all of the colours by selecting the text, now press enter. All of this text is now copied.
  9. Paste (Ctrl+V) it into your next post please.

Machine did not reboot yet. I am rebooting now.
Here is what I got from running the two sets of commands:
