I cannot install any windows updates...I've seen tons of posts on here for this error but the solution always seems to be user-specific...
So I made an account :grin1:

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1
ASUS laptop (seems to be the common theme, though I love my ASUS)
core i7, 8 gb RAM, NVIDIA GEFORCE 610M 2GB, yadah-yadah...

I've done the scan, tried microsoft's fix tool, and i've been at this for over 3 straight hours. No luck. I have, however, found the CBS log and determined that the culprit file is named "PINTLGB.IMD" and that it is MISSING, not corrupted. I also checked my language packs and there's a yellow warning icon next to English (the default and only language on my PC) but I think its this missing system file that's the problem...

I'll post my cbs.txt file after instruction because I'm not sure how privacy-sensitive that is and yeah:lol:

Thanks in advance for any help!

If anybody has experience with this error, please help me. I'm a programmer and understand computer systems and processes so I will be able to follow instructions well.

That does look good, can you please do another scan with SFC SCANNOW? I know that you ahve already done it but U just want a recent log to work with :).

Once SFC is ran can you please upload the following log:

Convert CBS.log to CBS.txt

  1. Click on the
    Win7Orb_zps4dae3b32.jpg
button => Inside the search box copy and paste the following command:
    Code:
    cmd /c copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  2. Press Enter
  3. Once this has completed please go to your Desktop and you will find CBS.txt => Please upload CBS.txt to this thread

Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to you next post please upload via Dropbox or One Drive

This didn't work for me. The command prompt opened for a split second, disappeared, and there was no file on the desktop. Do I need to change the command you gave me, substituting my user profile name for "userprofile" ? I also tried just opening cmd and typing the rest of what you put but it said it didn't recognize /c

EDIT: Nvm, I forgot to do sfc /scannow

I'm doing it right now, I'll get back to you on the other part :)

Ok never mind again. Did everything, no text file on desktop. Can I just open the log as an admin and "save as" ?

Using /c inside CMD will not work without cmd in front. The /c is a parameter/switch of the CMD command.

Please do this instead:

Export CBS folder

  1. Click the Start button
    StartButton_16x16.gif
    then click Computer.
  2. Double-click on the C: drive, under the Hard Disk Drives category, and then scroll down to, and double click on the Windows folder.
  3. Find and double click on the Logs folder.
  4. Right-click on the CBS folder, and select Copy.
  5. Go back to your Desktop, right-click on it, and select Paste. You should now see a copy of the CBS folder appear on your Desktop called CBS.
  6. Right-click on this new folder, and navigate through Send to, and select Compressed (zipped) folder.
  7. A new file, also called CBS (CBS.zip), but this time with a different icon, will be created.
  8. Attach this to your next post please.
Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to you next post please upload via Dropbox or One Drive

Thank you.
