Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. [sfcfixdownload]Download SFCFix[/sfcfixdownload] (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Download the attached file, SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
  3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
  5. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  6. SFCFix will now process the script.
  7. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

System Update Readiness Tool (SURT)

Download and run the System Update Readiness Tool here: System Update Readiness Tool

This tool will take some time to complete - when it has finished, attach C:\Windows\CBS\CheckSUR.log with your reply.

ok i used the tool and im guessing you mean C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log since i could not find the file at C:\Windows\CBS\CheckSUR.log.

Yes, thanks :)

There's some registry corruption that will have to be repaired, I'm working on a fix and will get back to you.

If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

Memory problems can cause the type of corruption we are finding and all sorts of other problems too.
Please post back with the results of the memory test.

Good. Let's replace the components hive.

Components Hive Replacement

  • Download the repaired hive COMPONENTS.zip
  • Right click on the downloaded file and choose Extract All. Click Browse, choose your Desktop folder, click OK, then click Extract.

  • Click your Start button and type cmd in the search box.
  • Right-click on cmd.exe that comes up in the search results and select Run as administrator. Answer Yes to the UAC prompt.
  • Copy/Paste the following lines into the command-prompt and hit enter after each.

    ren C:\Windows\System32\Config\COMPONENTS COMPONENTS.old

    copy %userprofile%\Desktop\components.hive C:\Windows\System32\Config\COMPONENTS

If at any point you get an error message stop and post back with the message

If the 'ren' (rename) command results in 'access denied', 'file in use' or something similar, reboot your computer and try again.

Try running system file checker (sfc /scannow) and post c:\Windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log when it completes

1. Download the Sysnative BSOD Dump + System File Collection App - save to Documents folder -

https://www.sysnative.com/apps/SysnativeBSODCollectionApp.exe

2. Run the app - Double-click on the downloaded EXE file
Output = new folder created in Documents + a zipped version -- SysnativeFileCollectionApp + SysnativeFileCollectionApp.zip

3. Upload SysnativeFileCollectionApp.zip

If the zip is too large to attach, upload to OneDrive, DropBox, or SendSpace (or any other service you like) and post a link here.
