Hi I'm Gary R,

I'm a Security Analyst, and a Windows Update Trainee, and I'd like to help you with your problems.

As a trainee, any instructions I give you must first be checked by a qualified update expert, before I post them. This will by necessity introduce some delay to any of my replies, so please be patient.

I am looking over your logs now, and will be back as soon as I've finished analysing them.

Sorry for the long wait ....

WARNING! The following fix is specific to the user's system in this thread only. No one else should follow these instructions, as it could damage your system.
  • Download SFCFix.exe and save it to your desktop.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and also save it on your desktop.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt
  • Open the file, then copy and paste its content in your next reply.

Next ...
  • Restart the computer.
  • Run the command SFC /SCANNOW in an elevated command prompt and report the result.
  • If it fails, attach a zipped C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log to your next reply.
Next ...
  • Click Search button and type Command Prompt
  • From the results, right click on the Command Prompt icon, and select Run as administrator
  • A Command Window will open.
  • Copy paste the command below into it, then press Enter
  • Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
  • Once DISM has finished running ...
    • Please attach your ... C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\cbs.log ... to your next reply.
  • If the file is too large, upload it to a file sharing service, and post me the link.
  • Examples of services to upload to are WeTransfer and TransferKit and SendFileOnline

I need to see the SFCFix.txt file produced when you ran the fix I gave you.

Can you please post that for me.

You've forgotten to post it again.

Best if you attach it.

To do that ...

With the Sysnative post editor open, click on Attach files
A file brower will open.
Browse to the SFCFix.txt file
Click Open
File will upload
When finished, click Post Reply

OK, looks like the fix was processed successfully, which is what I needed to know.

Looking over your latest CBS.log will get back to you when I've finished analysing it.

It's a very large file, so it could take a while.

Please try updating your computer.

If successful let me know.

If the update fails please post me your C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log

I was able to install the latest Windows cumulative update with no errors.

Thanks for your help.

You're welcome. Glad we could help.
