Hi -

Where did the Windows 7 ISO come from?

It is the likely cause of the 0x80070490 error here. You need to obtain Windows 7 recovery media from the OEM system manufacturer (typical cost is ~$30) -

https://www.sysnative.com/forums/windows-7-|-windows-vista/3716-oem-windows-replacement-media.html

Info on 0x80070490 from Microsoft recommends the repair/install that you tried -
I would suggest purchasing the recovery discs, backing up your files, formatting the HDD with KillDisk, then reinstall with the OEM discs.

Hi Rasto,

I have moved your thread into the Windows Update forum so we can keep track of it easily :)

Can you post your CBS folder please:

Export CBS folder

  1. Click the Start button
    StartButton_16x16.gif
    then click Computer.
  2. Double-click on the C: drive, under the Hard Disk Drives category, and then scroll down to, and double click on the Windows folder.
  3. Find and double click on the Logs folder.
  4. Right-click on the CBS folder, and select Copy.
  5. Go back to your Desktop, right-click on it, and select Paste. You should now see a copy of the CBS folder appear on your Desktop called CBS.
  6. Right-click on this new folder, and navigate through Send to, and select Compressed (zipped) folder.
  7. A new file, also called CBS (CBS.zip), but this time with a different icon, will be created.

Hi -

ZIP attachments are limited to 7.15 MB; hence the reason the 14 MB zip file would not attach. The attachment to your last post is invalid (likely corrupted).

The Digital River (DR) Windows ISOs that you linked to are not valid for public download. The DR Windows ISO is the likely reason behind your problems installing Windows Updates.

Did Windows 7 come pre-installed on your system? If so, obtain the replacement media per instructions in my last post -

https://www.sysnative.com/forums_new/index.php?posts/48436/

If you purchased a retail copy of Windows 7, contact Microsoft for replacement media -
