I am having trouble creating the cbs.zip file your instructions ask me to. When I right click the CBS folder on my desktop, the send to option does not have a compressed (zip) option. I don't know what I am doing wrong...followed instructions to the letter.
I missed the free Windows 10 upgrade on this computer because of this problem and have been holed up going crazy for 7 days. I've learned a little and also feel like my head is going to explode. Sorry...had to vent.
If you can help me figure out how to upload the information you need and help me, I would appreciate it.
I think my problem stems from the lost/corrupted single file called amd64_win7-microsoft-wind..oyment-languagepack_31bf3856ad364e35_7.1.7601.16492_sv-se_c86f88cff480a105.manifest"[gle=0x80004005 [/B]from the winsxs\manifest directory. Conclusion of a scan shown below.

Windows Update Manifest Replacement

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

  1. Please download the attached file, Packs.zip and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Right-click on the file and select Extract All...
  3. Tick the box labelled Show extracted files when complete then click Extract
  4. A window will open showing the folder Manifests
  5. Open the Manifests folder and copy the files into the following folder

    C:\Windows\Temp\CheckSur\Winsxs\Manifests

  6. Run the System Update Readiness Tool (SURT) again.
  7. When the SURT finishes installing, copy (Ctrl + C) and paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of the SURT log into your next post please:

    C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CheckSUR.log

Hi Zcomputerwiz,

In my above post, I don't think I followed your instructions correctly. I think I sent an old set of CheckSUR results. I believe I have since been able to resolve the problem (with your help) and I have been able to download updates and install them. I will post again on this thread should I have any further problems.

Hi Zcomputerwiz,

Well I thought the problem was resolved but it turns out I was wrong. Getting updates for Windows 7 has been working fine but when I tried to perform the upgrade to Windows 10 it errors out with the error code 0xc0000005. Any help you can offer would be appreciated.

Let's take a look at the Windows 10 Setup log to find out why.

Navigate to C:\Windows.~bt\Sources\Panther\
In this folder should be a file SetupAct.log, please zip and attach this file with your reply.

Looks like setup is crashing during the migration step.

Please try configuring your machine for Clean Boot and then try running setup again.

Clean Boot

  1. Click the Start button, then type msconfig in the search box.
  2. Click msconfig in the results list.

  3. On the General tab, click the Selective startup option, and then click to clear the Load startup items check box.

  4. On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog box, click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then tap or click Disable all.

I did all the steps in the above post. I have the System Configuration up. What do I do next...ie click apply or click OK?
 
Yes, click apply, then OK. It will ask you to allow the computer to restart to apply the changes.
 
Do you have any antivirus software installed at this time? If so, would it be possible to uninstall it and then try the upgrade again?
Be sure to collect your license or registration information prior to uninstalling.
 
I do have the security suite from my ISP running (F-Secure). I tried disabling this and running Microsoft essentials instead. Didn't help. Is just disabling it enough or should I uninstall it all together?

Just for your information, I was successful in upgrading my other computer with the security suite running and that computer is exactly identical to this one.
 
Tried various things like using the keyboard and mouse from my other identical computer that took the upgrade without a problem, uninstalling the security suite which had the anti-virus software in it and other things I can't remember, none of which worked. Tried 3 times to install Windows 10 upgrade, all from clean boots, none of which succeeded. I am attaching the zip file containing all three SetupAct.log files after each attempt. the numbers in the last part of the file name indicate date and time file was created.

Is the antivirus still uninstalled? If that is the case, please try running this tool to make sure that all remnants are removed: ftp://ftp.f-secure.com/support/tools/uitool/UninstallationTool.exe

It would appear from the log that setup is not getting as far with these attempts as it had previously.
Is it still making it to 83% in the third pass? Has anything else changed as far as installed software or new error messages?
 
I have reinstalled the security suite. Should I uninstall it again and run the tool? If so, need I be concerned about virus and spyware infections?

It is still making to 83% on the third pass every time and has in my attempts that I've made since my last post. I have removed some devices but I did that after the attempts were made that I sent you the logs for.
