Hello.

I've been passed on from another forum to try and get this sorted.

Before I do a reset, I thought I'd try here and I've been asked to tag @softwaremaniac

Windows 10 will not update to the latest 2004 build.

I have tried everything and the long and full story is here: Windows Update 2004 - Error 0xe06d7363 - Windows 10 Help Forums

It always gets stuck on 37% and fails and error 0xe06d7363 is in the logs.

This seems to be of particular interest:

Code:
FatalError [0x090001] PANTHR Exception (code 0xE06D7363: <unknown>) occurred at 0x00007FFC646BA799 in C:\WINDOWS\System32\KERNELBASE.dll

SFC scan finds no errors.

The same with SFCFix.

CBS logs attached.

Other logs: http://217.199.187.197/otronics.co.uk/LOGS2.zip

Many thanks.

Oliver.

Hello Oliver!

Thanks for reaching out and for providing the logs.

Please start with the following:

Step#1 - FRST Scan

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Right-click FRST64.exe and click Run as Administrator to run it as administrator. When the tool opens, click Yes to disclaimer.
3. Please ensure you place a check mark in the Addition.txt check box at the bottom of the form before running (if not already checked).
4. Press Scan button.
5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
6. Please attach the log back here.
7. Another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST64.exe) will be generated Please also attach that along with the FRST.txt in your reply.

Please completely uninstall the following and do not reinstall it until we are done as further installs may hinder our attempts.

CCleaner
iSpy (64 bit)
iSpy package installer (64 bit)
NetworkActiv Web Server 3.5
No-IP DUC
Tardis 2000 V1.6

Afterwards, do the following:

Step#1 - FRST Fix
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to your operating system
1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Download the attached fixlist.txt and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).
3. Run FRST64 by Right-Clicking on the file and choosing Run as administrator.
4. Press the Fix button just once and wait. If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
5. When finished FRST64 will generate a log on the Desktop (Fixlog.txt). Please post the contents of it in your reply.

Running now.

I've had to keep it plugged into the network for the upgrade to download files but will unplug once it's done.

Yes it has failed on 37% again.

I did try again and unplugging it the whole time but it says it cannot continue as there is no internet connection for the latest updates.

I know this has been done previously, but please show me the SMART attributes:

GSmartControl
Follow the instructions below to check your SMART status with GSmartControl:

  • Download the portable version of GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
  • Extract the zip file to your Desktop. Open the folder gsmartcontrol-1.1.3-win64 which should be located on your Desktop and double-click gsmartcontrol.exe to launch the program.
  • Identify your drive in the list (if recognized by the tool), and hover your mouse over it.
  • You should see something called: SMART status. It will either read: Enabled, in which case you should do the following:
  • Double-click on it to bring up its window (usually you'll find your drive by its size or its brand name);
  • Go to the Self-Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
  • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply or take a screenshot;
  • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply;
  • Please note: If the SMART Status reads: Unsupported, stop and let me know.

Thanks.

Interestingly, when this happened a year back during another feature update, I reset Windows and could then update to the latest version.

I have a copy of SpinRite - will that save the drive?

Thanks.

I have copied my old disk to a new drive for the time being.

Out of interest, I tried upgrading again.

I had to use the Update Assistant as the Media Creation Tool wouldn't work (neither would Windows Update).

It stalled at 37% again.

I need to do a clean install next which is a huge pain.

I didn't get a screenshot, but SeaTools confirmed the hard drive was on its way out.

The result was 'Long Generic - FAIL'.

I have done a clean install of Windows 10 and it has now updated to 2004.

Solved due to a bad disk.
