Hi,

This windows 7 system has been broken for a long time. Windows update stopped working one day. AFter various tries, I uninstalled internet explorer and it never installed back. No windows update ever succeeded since.
Chrome stopped updating, and we moved to firefox.

I found this forum and SFCfix, and SFC Fix says it requires human help.

Report is here :

Hi,

THis computer is highly troubled. Applying the fix did not work using drag&drog just does nothing.
Runningg from the commande line (run as admin) states the zip file is corrupted.
However the zip opens fine when opened using 7Zip.
Attached is the failure log

Regards,

Make sure that both files, SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip are placed on your desktop. Do not create any shortcuts.
Next, perform the instructions in message #2 again and report the result.

Hi,

I'll try this. Not sure that running from the desktop will make any difference as running from a command prompt in "c:\temp". But I'll give it a shot (when I get my hands on the machine).

FWIW, I have expanded the zip content and tried running sfcfix.exe sfcfix.txt (from the folder where I expanded the txt and urlmon). It stated it will deploy 1 package then crashes and tried to upload the app dump.

Thank for the help,

Best to follow the given instructions. It was unknown how you started SFCFix.

FWIW, I have expanded the zip content and tried running sfcfix.exe sfcfix.txt (from the folder where I expanded the txt and urlmon). It stated it will deploy 1 package then crashes and tried to upload the app dump.
Please that a screenshot of that or any error that occur.
Read this on how to take a screenshot.
Upload the image file to a file-sharing site such as Filedropper or SendSpace and post the downloadlink.

Thanks for the video, that was helpfull.
Please zip everything in the folder C:\SFCFix and attached the zipped file to your next reply.

Hi,

Below is a link to the content of the C:\sfcfix folder. I am under the impression there are a few dumps in there.

But to keep it safe, you'll get them all :)

Thanks for the information. We will have a look at it.
You can proceed with step 2 in message #2.

Collect System Variables

  1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, then press enter.

    Code:
    set > "%userprofile%\Desktop\set.txt"
  4. This will create a file, set.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

In your video you have placed the files SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip in the folder c:\temp.
Copy and paste the following commands into an elevated command prompt and press enter after each.

Code:
cd c:\temp

Code:
SFCFix.exe c:\temp\SFCFix.zip

Please report the result and the log file 'SFCFix.txt'.

Are you sure you used the folder c:\temp ?

Hi,

I did : Screenshot_21.png

and posted sfcfix.txt file found on the desktop dated with sfcfix execution time (today 22h)

It looks like you've ran the command SFCFix.exe sfc\SFCFix.txt in the folder c:\temp.
That command is not requested.
Please do exactly as said in message #14.

Ooops my bad, I misread. But this fails on "corrupted zip" IIRC.

I'll run again to double check.

This just ran fine, and prompted to reboot :)

Let's see what happens when I get the control again.

Thanks a lot for the support. After the reboot, update was stopping immediately with an error code, but sfc /scannow found and fixed more errors.
System is now downloading 155 updates :)

This will take a while, but you can set this a solved.

Thanks again :)
