Windows server 2022 failing update with 0x800f0831

2023-07 Cumulative Update for Microsoft server operating system version 21H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5028171)
Tried DISM restore hEALTH AND ITS Giving me

  • Open Windows Explorer and browse to the ... C:\Windows\Logs\CBS ... folder.
  • Right click on it, and select ... Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder
  • A message will appear stating, "Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here. Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?"
    • Answer Y to create a folder CBS.zip on your Desktop.
  • Please attach it to your next post.
    • If the file is too large, please upload it to a file sharing service and provide the link to it in your next reply.
    • Examples of services to upload to are WeTransfer and TransferKit and SendFileOnline
 
Your CBS.logs show a large number of errors (literally thousands), so a ComponentsScanner scan will check for a number of corruptions of your Components hive that can produce that kind of result.

We're also going to have problems repairing things if you can't run 3rd party apps.

We use a program called SFCFix to facilitate handling the permission and ownership issues we're likely to have to deal with, and without it it's just not going to be possible to repair things.
