We started having this problem back after October 2023's update was installed, past that all Cumulative updates have failed to be installed.
Currently the 2024-01 update gets to 100% installed, stalls for a good 20 minutes and then fails quoting 0x8007000d.
I've tried SFC /scannow which come back with it finding corruptions but was unable to fix some of them.
I've tried every DISM command under the sun which usually hits an error regardless on if I put a source or not 0x800f081f or saying it's unable to complete the process.

The built in Windows troubleshoot was useless too.

My next step was getting an iso for the OS to try and let DISM use that, which sadly wasn't useful as it appears that particular version microsoft don't let a test go out and I can only get my hands on an evaluation copy of the 2022 server isos.

I did attempt to just run the SFCFix.exe to get the log files however it crashed and came back with unexpected error twice. So I'm not quite sure what to do at this point.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth
