Good evening,

We are experiencing a Windows Update problem on a Windows Server 2022.

The error is 0x800f0982, by example for KB5034129.

sfc /scannow retuns errors that cannot be corrected.

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth finish successfully.

ComponentScanner report missing files, and other warnings.

Your help will be very much appreciated.

Best regards,

Max

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Download

SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Afterwards reboot the server and attempt to update. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS logs.

Hi,

It seems that this is the same issue as with KB5034441 for Windows 10 systems. Since Windows Server 2022 is based on the Windows 10 codebase it could be the same issue. However, this problem has not yet been documented here as known issue!

Can you please provide a screenshot of the Windows Update history, this because I suspect KB5034439 is offered as well and failing.

Hi,

Thank you for your help.

Yes, here is the screenshot.

Best regards,
Max
