Hello Everyone,

I'm new on www.sysnative.com.

We have a problem with Windows Update on VM with Windows Server 2019. We are trying to install update KB5022840 but we always get error number 0x800703f1.

Resetting of Windows Update service and its components not working.

I am attaching the log files from our VM whit WS 2019.

Any answer will be helpful.

Regards.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Upload the SCHEMA.DAT hive
  • Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\SMI\Store\Machine and copy the SCHEMA.DAT file yo your desktop.
  • Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To > Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named SCHEMA.ZIP on your desktop.
  • Attach this ZIP-file to your next reply.

Step 1. Download
56f31e53c97da-SFCFix.PNG
SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

This looks good, please attempt to update and let me know the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log(s).

The update installation went almost fine. Almost because after restarting the VM, for an hour we see "Preparing update. 100% complete. Do not turn off your computer" and nothing else happens.

Edit: I take back what I wrote. Looks like it worked. I'll be back in a moment with a final confirmation.

I would suggest to wait a little longer, sometimes it may take longer than usual if the update process is preparing a clean-up. Other question, how many ram is assigned to this VM?

Problem solved! Thank You very much for your help! You were 100% right. 5 minutes after writing the previous post, the VM started. Its stable for now.

The machine has 28 GB of RAM.

We wish You all the best.

Donate is on the way...

You're welccome. Glad to hear the problem has been resolved and many thanks for your donation to Sysnative.. (y)
