Dear sysnative,
On your forum I've read good stuff about troubleshooting Windows Update issues. I'm facing an update issue on a windows server 2019 system
which I can't get resolved with the troubleshooting documentation of Micrososft. And I hope you can help.
The issue is that when installing KB5029247, the monthly Windows update of august 2023, when the install reaches 100% it fails with error
0x800f0982 PSFX_E_MATCHING_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND
This error is not specific to the monthly update of august 2023, also other monthly updates fail. (.NET updates are have no issues.)
I have runned SFCFix and the ComponentsScanner, which both couldn't detect issues. The logs are in the attachment. Also the CBS.log is there with logging of a
failed installation attempt of KB5029247.
The error message is:
Can not identify matching versions for component Microsoft.Windows.DSC.Core.Resources, version 10.0.17763.4252, arch amd64, culture [l:5]'it-IT', nonSxS, pkt {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}.[gle=0x80004005]
What's also good to note is that all messages i've seen in the CBS.log are about components of the it-IT language. The 2019 server has only en-US language installed. And when I first ran
"Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" this failed with 55 corruptions, which I only could fix running this command:
"Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth /Source:wim:"D:\Sources\Install.wim":4 /limitaccess" with a downloaded itialian ISO of server 2019. (I first tried an standard en-US ISO, but that didn't work)
I looks like something might went wrong with an Italian language pack or something in the past. I unfortunately don't know the history of the server.
I've also tried installing an Italian language pack, but that fails.
Kind regards,
Paul
