[SOLVED] Windows Server 2019 - Cannot add Windows Defender Antivirus Feature (0x80073701)

Hi everyone,

I've got an issue while adding windows defender antivirus role into my windows server 2019 with below error message:

There is ONLY German language installed on this server so i would not want to uninstall that.

I have tried with windows updates manually and i have encountered below error in CBS.log

Failed to bulk stage deployment manifest and pin deployment for package:Package_269_for_KB5032196~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.1.11 [HRESULT = 0x80073701 - ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_MISSING]



I cannot manually install KB4592440 obviously as it is not available anymore, tried to uninstall it manually and got below error says this update is not installed on this computer:

I saw this solution here but apparently my package which caused the error is a bit different, I have attached the SearchReg.txt as well after scanning with the Farbar Recovery Scan Tool.


So I seek help please.

Farbar Recovery Scan Tool again.

Warning: This script was written specifically for this system. Do not run this script on another system.
  • Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  • Right-click on FRST.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  • Press the Fix button.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally.
  • When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  • Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

Great, please try to install the Windows Defender feature and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS logs.

Could you please somehow explain how to build the fixlist.txt file ??

I am having the exact same issue with two of my other servers with different update package number.


For example one of them is:

I really do not want to bother you anymore that is why i am looking to buil the fix myself

Sorry, but there's no public tutorial on how to create such fixlists rather than the official (public) tutorial which can be found here.

Thank you so much, i will check the file and revert with the result tomorrow.

In this case i hav no option to ask for your help for my 3rd server as well with this issue.

Will send the relevant files for that also tomorrow.
