I received help with several servers last month that had an issue with components missing for a particular KB.

We have resolved the issue on all those servers but have since found a similar issue on three servers but with different KB's so am in need of help creating an appropriate fixlist file for those servers please.

The CBS and SearchReg files are attached for the first server.

If any further information is needed, please let me know.

Hi,

Start the
577bf0efb8088-FRST.png
Farbar Recovery Scan Tool again.

Warning: This script was written specifically for this system. Do not run this script on another system.
  • Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  • Right-click on FRST.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  • Press the Fix button.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally.
  • When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  • Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

Thanks for the fixlist.txt file, it worked and we were able to install Defender.

I'll attach the files for the second server, if you would prefer I create a new thread for separate servers with different KB's causing issues let me know.

Okay great! Have you tried to uninstall KB4519979 first using the following command?

Code:
wusa /uninstall /KB:4519979

When you get the message: The update KB4519979 is not installed on this computer, perform the the following steps. When it shows another error please let me know!

Thanks for the fixlist.txt file, it worked and we were able to install Defender on the second server.

The errors on the last server are not the same as all the other servers however.

I ran "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" but it didn't come back saying anything was missing that I could see.

So I tried to install Defender again but it failed with the following error looking like the culprit:

CBS Failed to pin deployment while resolving Update:
Package_7371_for_KB4512517~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.1.3.4512517-15758_neutral from file: (null)
[HRESULT = 0x80073701 - ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_MISSING]

I tried "wusa /uninstall /KB:4512517" but the KB isn't installed.

I've attached the CBS logs and the SearchReg output for KB4512517.

As far as I know we have no further issues installing Defender.

Thanks for all your help, this thread can now be closed.

Hi,

You're welcome. Glad to hear all the servers are fixed now, I will mark this thread as solved.. (y)
