Hello everyone, I'm hoping somebody can help me with what appears to be a common error appearing on this forum.

I have several Server 2016 x64 servers missing packages after running "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth" which is preventing me from installing Defender.

I've tried running the SFCFix tool but it didn't manage to find any errors.

I tried to run the "wusa /uninstall /KB:4550929" command but got the message "The Update KB4550929 is not installed on this computer".

Based on other forum posts I've also searched for the KB in the Registry with the FRST64 tool after running the command "reg load HKLM\COMPONENTS C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\COMPONENTS".

This is the point that I've got stuck and could do with some assistance as I'm not sure which references should be deleted.

I've attached the files that I think you might need.

Hi and welcome to Sysnative,

Start the
577bf0efb8088-FRST.png
Farbar Recovery Scan Tool again.

Warning: This script was written specifically for this system. Do not run this script on another system.
  • Download the attachment fixlist.txt and save it to your desktop.
  • Right-click on FRST.exe and select "Run as administrator".
  • Press the Fix button.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally.
  • When finished, a log called Fixlog.txt will appear in the same directory the tool is run from.
  • Post the logfile Fixlog.txt as attachment in your next reply.

I've applied the fix with the results attached.

I've now been able to successfully install Defender so as long as you don't find any issues in the log file, the post can be closed.

Thankyou very much for the assistance.

Hi,

You're welcome. Glad to hear the Defender feature installed successfully, if there are no remaining issues we can mark this thread as solved...(y)
