Dear Sysnative Team,

I've been posponing this subject already for a long time. I've tried the works to correct this situation with no luck. I've ran scripts that stop services and clear the folders where MS dumps the updating files, no luck.
I've downloaded the last available update to try and install offline and the one right after of 2022/10((KB5019964-x64) and KB5021654-x64). The system stops updating around 17% and stays there. I left it updating over 24 hours. Nothing.

Can someone please help. Just one note - I'm not a System Admin I am a Accounting Tech that knows about IT a bit more than the others in the Office. In my town we don't have IT companies capable of solving this kind of things, lord knows I've tried.

I've attached the CBS file and ComponentsScanner log.

Thanks in advance to whom is willing to help.

Hi and welcome to Synative,

Step 1. Download
6530fbb0f4101-56f31e53c97da-SFCFix.PNG
SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Hi thank you for your help Maxstar.

The DISM command returned no error. Now the system checks the update, lists the available updates, tries to download it, stops and loops showing the same available updates. So I guess it doesn't manage to download it.

I've attached the printscreens.

Meanwhile I will try to upgrade using the file I've downloaded from the Microsoft Servers (kb5021654x64) to try and see if it goes over the 17% instalation. I will post the result.

Hi,

If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS logs as well as the Windows Update log.

Export the Windows Update log
  • Right-click on the Start button and click Windows PowerShell (Admin).
  • Copy and paste the following command into it, press enter afterwards
Code:
Get-WindowsUpdateLog
  • Wait for the message "WindowsUpdate.log written to C:\Users\<username>\Desktop\WindowsUpdate.log".
  • Attach the logfile WindowsUpdate.log to your next reply.

Good morning,

The upgrade got stuck again. I've executed the command in the Powershell cmd line. I've attached the new files.

  • If the file is too large to upload here, upload the file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.

Follow these instructions to remove an update.
  • Open the Start menu of Windows and type the command CMD
  • When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
  • When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, then press enter.
Code:
wusa /uninstall /KB:5012596
  • Let me know if it says it was successful or you get the message: The update KB5012596 is not installed on this computer.

Yep. It returns the error: Windows Update Standalone Installer - Installer encountered an error: 0x80070776 The object exporter specified was not found.

Open an elevated command prompt, run the following command and post the result.
Code:
wmic qfe | find "KB5012596"

  • Post the logfile SearchReg.txt as attachment in your next reply.

No problem, but could you please post the result of this command as well?

It's now doing the fix for the last hour. One question - the Farbar loads the fixlist.txt by itself? I saw no instruction to load it. I thought that it would be like the SFCfix where you drag the file to the executable.

Yes, when FRST64.exe and a Fixlist.txt file is saved in the same location, the tool will load the Fixlist.txt file when you press the Fix -button. This tool doesn't work the same as SFCFix with a drag and drop function.

Great, please attempt to update again. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS logs.
