Hello,

i have a problem with a Windows Server 2016 VM (Terminalserver).
SFC /scannow stops after 36%. I already ran a dism scan, which found and fixed corruptions, but it still doesn't work.
Moreover the Windows Cumulative Updates won't install. The Microsoft Office and Windows Server Servicing Stack Updates are working, though.
SFCFix did not find any issues, but sfc /scannow did still not run afterwards. I've attatched the SFCFix.txt.
I've uploaded the cbs.zip here: ownCloud - A safe home for all your data

If you need anything else, just let me know.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards

Step#1 - Capture Process Monitor Trace
1. Download and run Process Monitor. Please start the capture about a minute or two prior to failure.
2. Try running SFC just like you have in the past.
3. Stop Process Monitor as soon as it fails. You can simply do this by clicking the magnifying glass on the toolbar as shown below.

4. Select the File menu...Save... and save the file to your desktop. This is likely the default location. The name (unless changed) will be LogFile.PML. This is fine.
5. Zip up and provide the link to the LogFile.PML file as well as your CBS.log Examples of services to upload to are Dropbox or OneDrive or SendSpace.

Thanks.

Hi,

thank you very much for your assistance!

Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been in the office since Wednesday.

I've uploaded the file you requested here: Logfile.PML (This is with the default filters on)
In case you need, here is a file without any filters, too: Logfile_everything.PML

If you need anything else, just let me know.
I will be at the office again at Tuesday.

Hi!

Yes, I did a read-only checkdisk on C: (without any parameters) which found no errors. Is this sufficient, or do i have to run it with /F (/R)?
The underlying datastore of the vmware host has not been checked, but I don't think it has any errors, since the server is pretty new and the other virtual machines don't have any problems.

Hi!

I see. This should be sufficient for now. Please provide the following logs:

Step#1 - FRST Scan

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Right-click FRST64.exe and click Run as Administrator to run it as administrator. When the tool opens, click Yes to disclaimer.
3. Please ensure you place a check mark in the Addition.txt check box at the bottom of the form before running (if not already checked).
4. Press Scan button.
5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
6. Please attach the log back here.
7. Another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST64.exe) will be generated Please also attach that along with the FRST.txt in your reply.

Hi!

I removed G-Data, but SFC still fails after 36%. I am retrying the updates at the moment, but they are still downloading. When finished, I'll update this thread.

Thanks.

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

 1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
 2. Download the file below, SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
 3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
 4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
 5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
 6. SFCFix will now process the script.
 7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
 8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

Afterwards, retry updates and export your CBS folder if it fails.

Hi!

Good news, the Update completed successfully!!
Afterwards I did a sfc-scan which found and fixed some errors. Another sfc scan did not find any more errors.

Thank you very much for your assistance. Without you, I would not have been able to fix it :-)
Can you tell me what the cause for this error was?
