Hello,

I have a Windows Server 2016 Standard Hyper-V VM which was recently in-place upgraded from Windows Server 2012 R2. Since the upgrade, Cumulative Updates for Server 2016 will not install. Other updates install okay.
Cumulative updates will get to the stage where the system reboots and proceeds with the installation. When the installation reaches 99%, the update cancels and rolls back.

I have tried SFC and DISM pointing to a Windows Server 2016 ISO, as well as Windows Update components repair, but the issue remains.

Please find the logs attached.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, this is now solved. I was going through the CBS logs and found an entry relating to 'Microsoft-OneCore-SecureBootEncodeUEFI-Task'. A search led me to this article on how to fix it - Error code 0x800f0922 when installing Windows updates - Windows Server

I got an error trying to delete the keys, so downloaded psexec and used this command to open cmd.exe with system context: psexec -i -s cmd.exe
The keys then deleted OK. Restarted, and attempted the update which worked.
