Windows Server 2016 - CBS Manifest Corruption (KB4537764)

Hello,

I tried to repair the components store and dism found 260 invalid references to an old 2020 update (kb4537764).
Now I can vaguely remember that we had problems installing that update and thought it was skipped altogether and had been undone.
The server (in production) is working without problems and I can install all current updates.
An online repair with dism is not possible (error 1734 / 0x800706c6 [RPC_S_INVALID_BOUND])
Before I try an offline repair with the kb files I wanted to ask: Is it worth the risk?

Hi,

Such issues can be fixed, but we'll need the CBS logs for that.

Upload a copy of the CBS folder

• Open Windows Explorer and browse to the C:\Windows\Logs folder.
• Right-click on the CBS folder and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder.
• Now the message will appear, "Windows cannot create the Compressed (zipped) Folder here. Do you want it to be placed on the desktop instead?"
• Click on the Yes button here.

• Attach the file CBS.zip to your next reply. If the file is too large to attach, upload the CBS.zip file to www.wetransfer.com and post the link in your next reply.
