Windows Defender feature cannot be added with referenced assembly error 0x80073701.
The well-known repair attempts with dism and sfc have not worked.
I found no other language than German on that server.
My log research found the following entry:

Failed to pin deployment while resolving Update: Package_7465_for_KB4565511~31bf3856ad364e35~amd64~~10.0.1.8.4565511-14794_neutral

I cannot find this KB on MS download page to repair the missing package with dism.

Your help would be very much appreciated.

Best regards

Hello Maxstar,

First of all thank you so far.
I assume that the fix will edit the registry of the Server?
If so, I will need a free slot to try your fix.
That will be in the first week of July.
I will then come back with the results.
Best regards

Hi,

Yes, this script will remove all the remnants of KB4565511 from the registry, which causing the issue why the Windows Defender feature can't be installed.

Do you still need help on this issue or has it already been solved?

Sorry for responding late. I still have not tried your solution.
The server is in production and my plan is to copy his vhdx file into a test environment to test the script.
I will come back to you asap.

Best regards

Arno
