Hello,

I'm struggeling with a Windows Server 2012R2. It isn't possible to install updates on this installation anymore. Every attempt fails with code 80070032.

I started SFCFix but it never comes to an end. I let it run for >12 hours, but it hangs somewhere (see attached sfcfix.txt).

As mentioned in to posting instruction I collected die cbs folder (see attached cbs.zip).

Any help is highly appreciated.

Oh boy,

after hitting enter by accident sfcfix gave me a result. *doublefacepalm*

Help is still appreciated.

I know it's summer and your time is valueable, but any kind of help is extreamly appreciated.

After trying to install latest windows updates the errorcode is now 80073701. [HRESULT = 0x80073701 - ERROR_SXS_ASSEMBLY_MISSING] from cbs.log. I would like to change the topic, but this needs some moderator activity.

I ran sfcfix again and this time is was more verbose. Please have a look.

Good. The text file you posted shows the fix was completed successfully.

Now please run another SFC /scannow to check that there are no further problems and then see if Windows Update operates.

Hello philc43,

I ran sfc /scannow and it still finds damaged files. The console output told me that a reboot is nessessary. I will do this in the evening.

Meanwhile I ran sfcfix, too. I hope this will not conflict with former sfc /scannow and outstanding reboot.

Yes, the reboots are necessary and one was needed as part of the original fix.

I would like you to complete the reboot and then rerun SFC /scannow. If it tells you to reboot again do it asap. Afterwards post the new CBS.log. It looks like there may still be other files to fix.

Please run the SFCFix tool again and let's see what it shows now.

Hello,

peeking into the zip-file I hope you have a tool for preparing such a repair-package. Respect!

SFCFix is done, sfc /scannow is done and recommended reboot will follow in the evening.

cheers

After the reboot please run the SFCFix tool on its own to see what it comes up with this time. I have a feeling there are some subtle differences between your system and the Virtual Machine I have created to generate the files you need. I may need to get one of the other experts to have a look.
