L.S.

I have an old Windows Server 2012 that I have to keep alive for the coming months.

It runs as a DC, Fileserver and Exchange-server.

A few years back (2019? 2018?) I had some serious problems after a Roll-up update that caused Blue Screens of Death.
Took me quite some hours to resolve that; I only remember to have deleted a certain update by DISM, by hand.
More details I cannot remember.

Since then everything ran fine until the "2022-09 Security Monthly Quality Rollup".
I've never been able to install Rollup's ever since, along with unable to install "Internet Explorer 11 for Windows Server 2012" in my Windows-Update list.
However, the Defender Security Updates run fine.

I tried everything; all known SFC-options, all DISM-options, all manual procedures to clean Windows-Update stores and -directories and even DISM++ and SFCfix.
So, I'm at a complete loss now...I DEARLY hope you guys can help me to get this server up-to-date.

Running updates end up with an error 8000FFFF.

Can anybody help me with this?

Hello and welcome,

Copy the file C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\cbs.log to your desktop.
Zip the copied file and attach the zipped cbs.log to your next reply.

Wow...quick response!

Please see current CBS.log and the one before that, in the ZIP.

Dear PeterJ,

I am amazed that even on a Sunday you send me messages and provide me with supporting information.

If this all works out to a solution I will DEFINITELY make a donation.
I just have no experience whatsoever with these types of platforms, this form of support and making donations for it.
Hence my question: what would you consider to be a DECENT donation for the solution?

I'm DUTCH (but no cheap-ass) so I assume I'll be forgiven for my ultra-direct question.:-)

We are all volunteers on this forums from all over the globe providing support in our spare time. Therefor reactions can be posted at any time.

FRST Registry Search
  1. Click the Start button and in the search box, type CMD

You can ignore the failed update message as you already have the latest version.

No SearchReg.txt was created.
Did you click the Search Registry button. ?
