Hi there!
I'm having an issue updating one of our Windows Server 2008R2 systems. The updates appear to install just fine prior to the reboot, but during the reboot we get the error "Failure Configuring Windows Updates. Reverting Changes".
The system then reboots and retries configuration a few times, and eventually ends up back at the login screen. Checking the update history, I see that all updates failed to install.

1). SFC /scannow - No integrity violations
2). SURT & SFCFix completed successfully - No corruptions found

CBS Log Folder Here

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Hello and welcome!

Step#1 - FRST Scan

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.
Note: You need to run the 64-bit Version so please ensure you download that one.
2. Right-click FRST64.exe and click Run as Administrator to run it as administrator. When the tool opens, click Yes to disclaimer.
3. Please ensure you place a check mark in the Addition.txt check box at the bottom of the form before running (if not already checked).
4. Press Scan button.
5. It will produce a log called FRST.txt in the same directory the tool is run from (which should now be the desktop)
6. Please attach the log back here.
7. Another log (Addition.txt - also located in the same directory as FRST64.exe) will be generated Please also attach that along with the FRST.txt in your reply.

Please try the following:

Open Admin-CMD:

1) net stop "sppsvc"

2) del %Systemroot%\System32\spp\store\tokens.dat

3) schtasks /run /tn"\Microsoft\Windows\SoftwareProtectionPlatform\SvcRestartTask"

Retry updates afterwards.

Please note that you will likely need to re-activate the Server as we need to recreate your tokens.dat file because of the following error:

Code:
Error: (12/30/2019 03:51:47 AM) (Source: Software Protection Platform Service) (EventID: 8211) (User: )
Description: Update Windows license and product key tokens failed with 0x80070002.
