Hi Sysnative.com Community,

Having problems installing the latest updates, specifically Security Rollups KB4471318 and KB4507449 on a Windows Server 2008, R2 Service Pack 1 running as a VM.

Windows Update fails to install the updates with Error Code 80073701

SFC Scan completes with no integrity violations found.

System Update Readiness Tool finds no errors.

SFCFix found no corruptions. Log inside the CBS.zip file.

Have also tried running WSUS Offline which picked up about 15 updates. However, the Security Rollups are still failing.

Any help is appreciated!

1. Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your Desktop.

2. Download the attached fixlist.txt and save it to the Desktop.
Note. It's important that both files, FRST64 and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work (in this case...the desktop).

Install Update with DISM

  1. Download this update and save to your desktop. The file name will be Windows6.1-KB4025341-x64.cab.zip.
  2. Right-click on this file and select Extract All... Click the Extract button. You can close the folder window that opens
  3. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  4. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator. Go ahead and allow if you receive the UAC prompt.
  5. Copy and paste the following command into the command prompt window and press enter.

    dism /online /add-package /packagepath:%userprofile%\desktop\Windows6.1-KB4025341-x64.cab
  6. You should receive the message:
    The operation completed successfully.
Restart Windows to complete this operation. <---You may not get this line.
Do you want to restart the computer now (Y/N)? <---You may not get this line.

Go ahead and do so if prompted. Let me know what errors if any come up. If you do get errors, please zip/attach your CBS.log

If you get the message that no packages have been found that require processing, please use the following command instead:

dism /online /add-package /packagepath:%userprofile%\desktop\Windows6.1-KB4025341-x64.cab\Windows6.1-KB4025341-x64.cab

Thank you, that worked! The dism operation completed successfully.

I was then able to install the 2018-12 Security Monthly Quality Rollup (KB4471318). Server rebooted fine.

However, I keep checking for more updates but keep getting the message that "Windows is up to date". My WSUS server is saying that this particular server is still missing updates.

Do you have any recommendations?

I was able to manually install the remaining update rollups and WSUS is now showing all updates are installed.

Thank you so much for you help!
