Hello,

I am unable to install monthly updates and have been for 2 months. This started after I attempted to install the July 2021 updates and after rebooting my server sat on the "Loading the Windows Modules Installer" screen for about 8 hours. I was running extremely low on disk space on the Windows partition prior to this so that may have had something to do with it. To try and remedy this issue myself I first tired to run SFC and it told me that it found corruption but was unable to fix it (I have been getting that error for a while now but it hasn't been causing any issues up until this point). Keep in mind this is a headless server so I cannot boot into safe mode or from the Windows installation DVD. I then tried running DISM and it found no errors. I then tried to run the SFCFix tool found here and it too found no errors. I am at a loss as to what to do next so I'm reaching out here for help. I have attached the SFCFis log and a screenshot of the command prompt screen showing the error installing the latest monthly update. If anyone could help me sort this out so I can resume installing the monthly updates I would greatly appreciate it.

Hello and welcome,

Click the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator.
When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, press enter afterwards.

Code:
copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"

This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.
You may zip the file cbs.txt first.
Note: if the file is too big to upload to your next post please upload via a service such as Filedropper or One Drive or WeTransfer and just provide the download link.

Post a screenshot of the available important windows updates.

I'm installing them from a MSU file since they don't appear in Windows Update. If you still want a screenshot I'll be happy to provide one. The 2 updates I haven't been able to install are KB5004289 and KB5005088.

Reboot the machine when finished.
Check Windows Update again and report the result.
If it fails, attach the zipped cbs.log to your next reply.

I did what you requested and I'm still unable to install the monthly updates. I am able to install other updates just not the monthly rollups. Attached are the files you requested.

Here are the CBS logs (they were to large to attach even when compressed): CBS.zip
