Windows search doesn't open

Hi,
I've uninstalled through diskpart w8.1 on my machine, downloaded the official media creation tool and installed W10.
Found out that Windows search doesn't open and doesn't allow me to type from the keyboards.
There are several tutorials around about this issue, and I've spent time to peruse many of them, but nothing has worked.
I have just run a sfc /scannow and will attach the cbs log.
I definitely need the help of an expert to analize the log and if possible, suggest a solution.
Thank you in advance.

Forgot to mention that the machine is updated.
Windows search doesn't open and doesn't allow me to type from the keyboards.
I'm trying many fixes, including the reset from Microsoft without success.
Restored the pc, uninstalled the Bluetooth Pack...

I definitely think I need some SCFix help.

Hi,

Step 1. Download
6530fbb0f4101-56f31e53c97da-SFCFix.PNG
SFCFix and save it to your desktop.

Warning: This fix was written specifically for this system. Do not run this fix on another system.
  • Save any work you have open, and close all programs.
  • Download the attachment SFCFix.zip and save it to your desktop.
  • Drag the SFCFix.zip file over the SFCFix.exe executable and release it.

  • SFCFix will launch, let it complete.
  • Once done, a file will appear on your desktop, called SFCFix.txt.
  • Post the logfile (SFCFix.txt) as attachment in your next reply.

Step 2. Run the following DISM command and post the result. If it fails attach a new copy of the CBS log.
Code:
DISM /online /cleanup-image /RestoreHealth

Hi Max,
Thanks a lot for your reply.
In the past few days I had to remove W10 from my machine, and reinstall it. Now the windows searchbar is working, and very useful indeed.
What concerns me now is the partitioning of the hdd/Sdd: I used to have GPT, but then found out that it was Dynamic.
And also could you check my pc and maybe suggest if it needs more partitions, for working smoothly and safe?
Thank you

Hi,

Since the issue is resolved with a clean install, I will move this thread to the Windows 10 section because the Windows Update forum is limited to getting answers from other users and helpers.

No please stay in this thread and provide a little bit more info about this system using Speccy!
  • Download Speccy x64 portable 1.32.740 (click)
  • Unzip spsetup132.zip it and put it on your desktop.
  • Right click Speccy64.exe and select the option run as Adminisrator.
  • When the program opens, it will retrieve some information regarding your system.
  • Once it's done, select the File menu and choose Publish snapshot. Answer Yes to the confirmation message.
  • On the next screen that comes up, choose the Copy to Clipboard button and paste this link in your next reply.

You must have selected something when you were clean installing, there's no "data safe" way to convert it back to basic, you have to delete all the partitions and then convert the disk back. You'll probably better off just doing another clean install and then making sure you've changed any settings when it asks where you would like the operating system to be installed.

It seems like third party programs can do it without deleting partitions:
  • IM-Magic partition resizer FREE
  • Macrorit Disk Partition Expert FREE (portable and installer)
  • AOMEI Partition Assistant (but not the standard and free version)
  • DiskGenius (but not the free version)
  • EaseUs Partition Master (but not the free version)
  • LSoft Tech. Active@ Partition Manager (it's free, but it's unclear if the convert option is available)
  • MiniTool Partition Wizard (but not the free version)
  • Niubi Partition Editor (unclear for the free version; given that it's a macrorit clone, it could do it)

On winningpc.com, you can find EaseUs Partition Master PRO 10 months (294 days) as a giveaway: 1729428753535.webp

Anyway, it doesn't look to me like you have dynamic disks.
Under the type column, it is written basic.

Comunque, a me non sembra che tu abbia dischi dinamici.
Sotto la colonna tipo, c'è scritto di base.

what do you reckon?
I'm a bit at loss..
I mean, I think that in both disks 0 and 1, it should be ticked *GPT.

Done.
It seems there's a bit of mess...see in attachment

Where is the mess?
Right-click the disk 0 and see if the option to convert it from dynamic to basic appears.
Right-click the disk 1 and see if the option to convert it from MBR to GPT appears.
You can also extend the recovery partition to allocate the non allocated space.

Yes, the option to convert it from MBR to GPT appears on disk 1.
Nothing on disk 0.
Should I optimize the non formatted spaces?
Or try to transfer something on the SSD, apparently empty?

Honestly, I didn't understand your question.
If the dynamic to basic conversion option doesn't appear in macrorit partition expert, you should try easeus partition master pro (see my first post: it's a giveaway, i.e. it's free for 10 months).

yes, I'm confused because on W10 "Disk Management" Under the type column, it is written basic, then once I prompt diskpart it displays Din *.

(Apart from Macrorit or Easeus pro)
