This all started because system restore would not work (has not worked for a long time).
i had downloaded a java update yesterday and as of this morning i had no graphics and most of my website links were failing (using either mozilla or chrome). tried lots of things and eventually system restore, which failed. ironically graphics came back by decided to investigate further by running the scans.
