I have a Windows 10 PC that at some point within the last 3-4 weeks stopped playing audio in Windows Media Player 12.

Not sure when as I only discovered the issue a few days ago.

Microsoft forums weren't helpful aside from having me run sfc /scannow

The one who helped wanted me to do a repair install, but knowing what I know about computers I don't think that is necessary and is just the easy way out.

Here's the CBS.log file

Hi!

Yes, this is definitely fixable. My recommendation would be to use Media Creation Tool to try and upgrade to the latest available Windows 10 version as this may save us some time.

  1. Download the Media Creation Tool and save this to your desktop. Go ahead and run this as well. Note: Click the Download tool now button when you get to this link.
  2. Accept the License Agreement
  3. Download the ISO file to your desktop.
  4. Double-click on the ISO and then run the setup to try and upgrade your machine.

We want to get the ISO so that you don't have to keep downloading which can take hours.

While waiting on replies I ran sfc /scannow multiple times and it fixed the issue.

I can still do that to ensure I have the most current version of 10 though.
