Hello,

Back again. PeterJ fixed me up before when my downloads wouldn't work. But now I am getting a "Windows Installer Service could not be acessed."

This occurs when trying to update some programs but not others. For example, it occurs when trying to update Acrobat Reader DC, but not when updating my Qnap interface.

This is a windows 7 machine. Specifications as follows:

BIOS: American Megatrends Inc. 1504 08/01/2012
Motherboard: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. P8Z77-V PRO
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770K CPU @ 3.50GHz
Total physical RAM: 16261.5 MB

Platform: Windows 7 Ultimate Service Pack 1 (X64) Language: English (United States)

Drive c: () (Fixed) (Total:858.38 GB) (Free:485.28 GB) NTFS
Drive d: () (Fixed) (Total:2791.04 GB) (Free:1646.31 GB) NTFS

Is there other information I should provide?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Regards,

Rod Wolford

plodr,

I appreciate your quick response. I had previously tried these solutions. No go.

However, I DID find a solution from an earlier, Feb 19 2019, sysnative post by SleepyDude that worked. Win 7 Pro 64 bit - The Windows Installer service could not be accessed. I see that you were involved in this post too! you proposed an article about repairing it. Repairing the Windows Installer service on a 64-bit OS – Aaron Stebner's WebLog I tried that solution too (didn't work), before coming upon SleepyDude's solution.

I feel very lucky I found it. Maybe the solution could be elevated to one of the Windows 7 solutions to make it easier for others with a similar problem to access?

I do think this is the best windows forum going. Thanks again for your quick response.

Best regards,

Rod
