Hi Guys,

since 2 weeks windows explorer stoppes working either at start or during working on pc.
It is not constatns (sometimes this does not happen).
It crashes 2 - 20 times, afterwords I can work for some time (till it crashes again).

trying to solve this i have run the sfc and got "Found but could not fix some Corrupt files"

I have tried to attach the zipped cbs but it is larger than allowed (7,37Mb).

Could you help please?

Hi,

I need some logs to help you with this issue. :)

Export CBS folder

  1. Click the Start button :startorb: then click Computer.
  2. Double-click on the C: drive, under the Hard Disk Drives category, and then scroll down to, and double click on the Windows folder.
  3. Find and double click on the Logs folder.
  4. Right-click on the CBS folder, and select Copy.
  5. Go back to your Desktop, right-click on it, and select Paste. You should now see a copy of the CBS folder appear on your Desktop called CBS.
  6. Right-click on this new folder, and navigate through Send to, and select Compressed (zipped) folder.
  7. A new file, also called CBS (CBS.zip), but this time with a different icon, will be created.
  8. Attach this new file to your next post.

Hi Peter,

There are no up to date logs in the CBS folder. Can you please run another SFC scan to produce a more up to date log for me?

SFC Scan

  1. Click on the Start
    Start%20Orb.jpg
button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
  2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
  3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following commands into it, press enter after each

    sfc /scannow

Wait for this to finish before you continue

    copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt

  4. This will create a file, cbs.txt on your Desktop. Please attach this to your next post.

The Explorer still stoppes working as previously, I have tried to set the system back, didnt help. Tried to scan for HDD issues or memory using the windows tools but no result.
Today the explorer stoppes working approx. 20-30 times till I am "allowed" to work...and a new error message appeared
explorer.exe
instruction at 0x800051da referenced memory at 0x004ee000.
memory could not be written.

i have no idea what else I can do?
Reinstall the windows?

Best
Peter

Hi Peter,

The logs attached are the same as before. Did you create a cbs.txt file on your desktop as per the instructions? If you didn't, please follow the previous steps again, and upload just the cbs.txt file to your next post.

Lets see what our own tools here say:

  1. Download SFCFix.exe and save this to your Desktop.
  2. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
  3. Double click on SFCFix.exe to open it.
  4. Follow all on screen instructions and upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
  5. Copy (Ctrl + C) and Paste (Ctrl + V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please.

explorer.exe
instruction at 0x800051da referenced memory at 0x004ee000.
memory could not be written.

Hmm... interesting..

Can you get me some event viewer logs whilst you're at it -

- open Event Viewer (eventvwr.msc)
- expand the Custom Views category (left click on the > next to the words "Custom Views")
- right click on Administrative Events
- select "Save all Events in Custom View as..."
- save the file as Admin.evtx
- zip up the file (right click on it, select "Send to", select "Compressed (zipped) folder")
- upload it with your next post (if it's too big, then upload it to a free file-hosting service and post a link here).

Reinstall the windows?

I will try to get this fixed without the need to reinstall. However, if you want to try a repair install, I'm not going to stop you - https://www.sysnative.com/forums/wi...-install-windows-windows-7-windows-vista.html
