Hi, Gilbert.

With this tool we can check if something is wrong with the services:
  • Please download Farbar Service Scanner and save it on your Desktop.
  • Right click on the tool icon and run it as administrator.
  • Make sure all the options are checked.
  • Click on the Scan button.
  • It will create a log (FSS.txt) on your Desktop.
  • Copy and paste the log's content to your next reply.

Do you have another antimalware program installed? If so that may be your problem. Microsoft Defender (formally Windows Defender) is designed to disable itself automatically when a 3rd party anti-malware solution is installed. This is to avoid conflicts and the wasting of system resources. And that is not necessarily a bad thing.

Some 3rd party programs allow you to tell that program not to register itself in the Windows Security Center. Malwarebytes is such a program. If you are running a 3rd party solution, and you want to run Microsoft Defender too, check your programs options menu to see if provides such an option.

If there is not a third-party antivirus or security suite installed, which would cause such problems as @Digerati has noted, then I would suggest my standard advice:

1. Using SFC (System File Checker) and DISM (Deployment Imaging Servicing and Management) to Repair Windows 8 & 10
then if that doesn't fix the issue:
2. Doing a Windows 10 Repair Install or Feature Update Using the Windows 10 ISO file

This presumes no third-party antivirus/security suite and/or that if there was one, and it's been removed, that the removal was complete and successful. If you have recently removed any third-party suite, I'd suggest fetching their "force removal" uninstall tool, and they've all got them, used when the conventional uninstaller has failed in some way. There is no harm in using one even if the uninstall appears to have been successful, in that there will be nothing it detects to force uninstall.

Hello
I have Bitdefender antivirus free edition and Malwarebytes free but the problem existed before them

The defender service in not in the service.msc anymore.

This has nothing to do with the third party antivirus you have. It should be there, but not running.

That's why I told you to run the FSS tool, so we can check if there is something wrong with the services.

I would first check that.

It seems that wuauserv and WinDefend services are missing.

Let's restore them:

1. Restore missing services

2. Run FSS again
  • Right click on the tool icon and run it as administrator, as you did before.
  • Make sure all the options are checked.
  • Click on the Scan button.
  • It will create a log (FSS.txt) on your Desktop.
  • Copy and paste the log's content to your next reply.

Hi, TomOne.

Let's try to do the process in Safe mode:

1. Restart with Safe mode

  • Press the Windows icon on the keyboard together with the letter I, to get into the Settings.
  • Choose Update and Security.
  • From the menu at the left, choose Recovery.
  • Under the title Advanced startup at the right, choose Restart now.
  • From the window that will appear choose Troubleshoot and then Advanced options.
  • Choose Startup Settings and then Restart.
  • Press number 5, for choosing Safe mode with networking.
  • You will know that you are in Safe mode, if the background is black and Safe mode is written at the four corners of the screen.

2. Repeat the steps in my previous post and let me know about the result.

Hello,
I have done what you say in safe mode.
The 2 reg were executed correctly.
But defender is always blocked.
Thanks for uour help and excuse my bad english.

Hi, Gilbert.

Your English is just fine. I'm not English native speaker either. :-)

As Digerati said above,

Microsoft Defender (formally Windows Defender) is designed to disable itself automatically when a 3rd party anti-malware solution is installed. This is to avoid conflicts and the wasting of system resources. And that is not necessarily a bad thing.

Please run FSS again as instructed here (Step 2) to ensure that services have been correctly registered.

After that,
  • Go to Settings (Windows icon on the keyboard + i)
  • Select Privacy & Security
  • From the left pane, Windows Security
  • Open Windows Security
  • Click on Virus & Threat Protection
  • Please take a screenshot of what you see

I would also like to see here:
  • Go to Settings (Windows icon on the keyboard + i)
  • Select Privacy & Security
  • From the left pane, Windows Security
  • Open Windows Security
  • Click on Virus & Threat Protection
  • Please take a screenshot of what you see

Click on the Virus & Threat Protection (I don't speak French to write it in French 😁 )and take for me another screenshot please.

hello,
i do what you want.
Nothing.
No new window opens.More exactly a window opens and close immediatly.
