[SOLVED] Windows code 2 error when trying to update .NET security rollup

Hi,

I have a Win7 System and trouble to get the .NET security rollup updated.
Just parts of KB4457918, KB4462500, KB4459922, KB4345590 by manual updating. Always getting a code 2 (unknown) windows update error.

Tried many things like NetFxRepairTool, dotnetfx_cleanup_tool, deleting windows update folder, manual offline updates etc.

Hi,

4.7.2 is the only version that is shown in the programs list, but I un/reinstalled also other lower versions.

Important:
KB4457918 (Security and Quality Rollup .NET)

I tried to install them all at once and individually.
After I could install single parts of each update the overall size was lowered from 63 MB to 40 MB in each update.
 
Let's verify we are not dealing with an underlying hardware problem:

GSmartControl
Follow the instructions below to test your hard drive health with GSmartControl:



  • Download GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
  • Execute gsmartcontrol.exe; Let the install complete and launch the programme.
  • Identify your drive in the list, and double-click on it to bring up it's window (usually you'll find your drive by it's size or it's brand name);
  • Go in the Perform Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
  • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply;
  • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply;

Restart Windows in Safe Mode w/networking.

Download Windows Repair (All-in-One) Portable


  • Extract the tweaking.com_windows_repair_aio.zip to c:\Windows\TEMP the zip will extract to a folder called Tweaking.com - Windows Repair
  • Execute the file Repair_Windows.exe from the Tweaking.com - Windows Repair folder, accept the Security warning and the EULA
  • Click the button Jump To Repairs
  • Click the Open Repairs button to access the following screen:

  • Click the box All Repairs to uncheck all the boxes
  • Check only the following boxes:
    • 16 - Repair Windows Updates

  • Check the box Restart/Shutdown System When Finished > Restart System
  • Click the Start Repairs button
  • When the system reboots, attempt the updates again.
 
I get still the same error. Also tried to install KB4459922 separately.
After creating a restore point it stops.
 
The installation is stopped:

"Details

Same or higher version of .NET Framework 4 Client Profile has already been installed on this computer. "
