Hi,

I am getting the error 0x000000e, and it tells me that "The boot selection failed because a required device is when I try and boot up my computer. I just installed a new graphics card and I am not getting this error. I have run the repair utility for over an hour to see if it would fix things but I didn't. So I don't know what else to do at this point. I am sure that there is an answer rather than a reinstall. I look forward to your thoughts.

Hi Will. . .

Some confusion here -
Hi,

Are you getting a BSOD?

Did the new graphics card result in the 0xe BSOD going away & landed you in Windows Repair/Recovery?

John

Sorry John,

I shouldn't make new threads really late at night. I have a tendency to not check them before I post.

An update, I removed the card and now it is booting, but it isn't staying on long. Windows boots normally but will freeze after about five minutes. I am not sure if this has anything to do with the new video card or not, but I figured that I would mention it.

A solid symptom of heat related problems too. I would make sure your system is clean of heat trapping dust, that all fans spin freely, and your temps are normal.

A little update for you both, I ran memtest and everything was fine, so I ran SEATOOLS and i found that the hdd was even showing up. I checked the bois and it didn't show up there. So I have decucted that the hdd is probably dead and am doing a reinstall on a second drive that I have. I also have a backup so once things are installed I can reload the backup.

Assuming you accidently left out a critical word there, I agree and it appears the drive is toast.

Also, assuming it is a Seagate drive, most have 3-year warranties (some have 5) and they won't argue with you if a drive fails their own diagnostics program.

Oh, I guess I am also assuming you tried a second power connector and data cable too.
