My computer has had a string of crashes and finally would not start yesterday. I tried what I could and then just did a complete wipe and tried reinstalling Windows 8 pro. Initial updates were done and then it got to a point where windows update would not work and I started getting blue crash screens again. All attempts to fix via my installation disk have not worked. I cant update to Windows 8.1 either.
Further attempts at windows update give error 8007246. Trying to fix via the troubleshooter, it says fixed and future attempts give the same error.
I ran SFCFix and below is the result...

There are some strange errors appearing in your SFC log, ones that I have not seen before. I would like to take a look at the registry hive called COMPONENTS, please do the following:

SFCFix Collect COMPONENTS
 1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
 2. Download SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
 3. On your Desktop, you should now see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
 4. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
 5. SFCFix will now begin to upload your CBS logfiles to our server.
 6. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
 7. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

If all goes well, you should see that your logfiles have now been added to your thread.

Below you can see some symbols in the string's, they are not meant to be there, these are known as bitflip's. It should be pretty straight forward to fix and I hope to have a fix for you within the next few days.
