This error is never good, I can not get the hive to load for me either.

Do you have any recent restore points?

Click on the start button -> Inside the search field type in Powershell -> Right click on Powershell.exe -> Choose run as admin -> enter in the following command:
Get-ComputerRestorePoint >1
Notepad 1
Post the contents of 1.txt back into this thread.

thank you from down under.
I ran the tasks you had asked and not sure what I am doing wrong. But I took a screen snip to show the different ways I tried to run the command, get-computer....
Some pertinent facts. this is my son's laptop. The embarrassing fact is the last successful update was 7/26/14 Microsoft Silverlight. The time and date of the computer was not correct when I first tried to update recently. I corrected it.... We are using windows defender, and Ccleaner. we do have backups to the registry.
Thank you again for your efforts, Sorry I didn't post more quickly but we are vacationing in Maine. Lobster feast tonight!!!

SFCFix Script

Warning: this fix is specific to the user in this thread. No one else should follow these instructions as it may cause more harm than good. If you are after assistance, please start a thread of your own.

 1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
 2. Download SFCFix.zip, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFix.zip - do not rename it.
 3. Save any open documents and close all open windows.
 4. On your Desktop, you should see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFix.zip.
 5. Drag the file SFCFix.zip onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
 6. SFCFix will now process the script.
 7. Upon completion, a file should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
 8. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this file into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.
