Hello,

I see this is becoming quite a popular thing on these forums. Is this a common problem with Windows 8 because I have been having this happen to me ALOT? It seams like it keeps occurring after I try to resume my computer after the monitor turns off. I have my power plan set to high performance. The monitor is set to turn off after 30 minutes. When I try to resume my PC sometimes all I get is a black screen that never comes too. This results in me having to power off the computer. When I do this that is when I notice that I end up with corrupt files. I found a article online from someone with the same problem. They said Microsoft said to disable fast boot in Windows. I have disable it and I am going to see if that fixes the problem. I have had to reinstall my OS about 50 times due to corrupt files and this problem. Could someone please tell me how to repair corrupt files easier, or at least how to fix the corrupt files I currently have?

Thank you,
Rocky

Hi -

Run SFC for corrupt file repair - bring up an Admin CMD prompt; type -
Code:
sfc /scannow

Run - https://www.sysnative.com/forums/bs...g-instructions-windows-8-7-windows-vista.html

Attach the resulting zip file to your next post.

Thanks for your reply. That's what I ran was sfc /scannow. That is how I found out I had corrupt files. It said that they could not be fixed. I rebooted and ran the system file checker again and it kept saying it found errors and couldn't be fixed. I am not getting any BSOD. The screen just stays black when I move the mouse and hit a key to recover my computer. Do you still want me to see if there is a crash log? The last time this happened I looked for a crash log and there wasn't one.

PS. This happened after a clean install. I was downloading Windows Updates. I wanted to install of them before installing all of the latest drivers for my PC. While they where downloading I went to watch TV. The monitor turned off at 15 minutes like it does on High Performance. When I came back and moved the mouse that is when the screen stayed black. I had to use the power button to restart the PC. I ran system file checker and notices files where corrupt.
