Hi there,
I am trying to help a friend with their Windows 8, Hp 2000 notebook pc. The laptop had a lot of adware and toolbars and pop ups. I did a Hp recovery which was on a recovery partition. All seemed well until I tried to update Windows. It stood stuck at 0 percent for waaay to long (over 1hour). I went into the Windows update trouble shooting which found some things wrong that it fix, but it also said there's other things that are missing or corrupt (It doesn't name what specifically). I even went on Microsoft website and down loaded the fixit tool, it said the same thing.
Oh, I forgot to mention the first time I ran the trouble shooting scan and it said it fixed some thing's but couldn't fix others. I rescanned for updates and it downloaded some, but when I checked "View Installed updates" It show's all failed except the Malicious software removal tool and windows defender KB2772501. Also these 4 updates KB2871690, KB2877213, KB2891804, KB2904266. I don't understand why a system recovery by Hp to it's factory defaults did not work. I don't have Windows 8 dvd. Please someone help. I attached the CBS file your instructions say to do, had to do it with WinZip as when I right click on files and hover over send to, there's no compress to zip folder option, only the DVD drive is there.
