Re: DISM hangs at 40% unable to fix

Can you provide a screenshot of how your start screen tiles looks like? You are talking about tiles for the Store apps, right?

Thank you for your continuous reply in the previous thread, I guess this is the real problem of my pc.
The tiles are not working, nothing happens when clicking it, does not open.
As well as the apps window as shown in the screenshot. I can't scan my computer for virus because mcafee is not running also.
My directories are lost and my outlook archive and ost is not working, which is important to me. :(
Can you extend help just until I recover the email and the lost directories.
If I have recovered my files and this windows 8.1 keeps giving me error then I guess I will just have to reinstall it.

What do you mean by your "directories are lost"? You cannot access them? Their content were deleted?

Yes, I have folders that are gone, tried using search but its not found.
Then suddenly i got this folders in my drive named found.000 and found.001, inside them are directories called dir_0000010A.chk and so on.
I believe this are my files and program files, that's why some of the installed apps are not working. Some of them are Mcafee, google chrome, outlook, the screenshot i sent you, all my installed printers and others. I can't even uninstall this programs, so I wont get the bad image prompt everytime i restart the computer. Any ideas for this?

Found.000 and Found.001 are folders that are created following a chkdsk /r operation, where it moves the information from bad sectors to these folders (and the data it recovered as well). Your HDD might be failing if you ask me. Follow the instructions below please.

GSmartControl
Follow the instructions below to test your hard drive health with GSmartControl:
  • Download GSmartControl and save it on your Desktop;
  • Extract the content of the GSmartControl .zip archive and execute gsmartcontrol.exe;
  • Identify your drive in the list, and double-click on it to bring up it's window (usually you'll find your drive by it's size or it's brand name);
  • Go in the Perform Tests tab, then select Extended Self-test in the Test type drop-down list and click on Execute (this test can take a few hours to complete);
  • Once the test is over, the results will be displayed at the bottom of the window. Please copy and paste these results in your next reply;
  • Also, go in the Attributes tab and if you have any entries highlighted in red or pink, copy and paste their name in your next reply (or take a screenshot of the GSmartControl window and attach it in your next reply);
