Hello,

I have a similar issue as reported on this thread: https://www.sysnative.com/forums/wi...-0x800703f1-registry-database-is-corrupt.html

I got the same error when trying to download any updates from windows update or even installing a device driver. I tried the following approaches:

1. Using cfdisk, no errors 0 badblocks
2. Running SFC sfc /scannow , error: "Windows Resource Protection could not perform the requested operation."
3. Running DISM ( Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth ) , error: "Error: 1009 \n The configuration registry database is corrupt."
4. Running SFCFix, log appended

I read on the referenced thread about running SFCFix with a script file, but as it as for a user name who's helping me, I will wait until some good soul to start helping me =]

Btw, all the appended log are saved BEFORE those commands run, so CBS.zip is *after* sfc and dism execution.

Thanks for any help I can receive.

Hello geremias and welcome to Sysnative forums :)

Can you please go to the following folder "C:\Windows\System32\config\" inside the folder you should see a file called COMPONENTS -> right click on this file -> open properties and report back to me the file size.

Thanks

Alex

Hello Power one :P,

There is all files with size in bytes, just to ensure that I'm doing the right thing, I pasted all COMPONETS* file on that folder.

Thanks for your help!

Just to inform... today I tested the Asus Recovery Partitions, with exited with something like "sorry can't do nothing"... even the system reset, maintaining user files/configs failed. I don't know where the logs of that recovery is saved :( . Anyway I forgot to include dism logs, don't know if all of it is inserted on CBS ones. So there you go: View attachment dism.log

Again thanks for any help :thumbsup2:

Hello geremias,

You did well that is what I was after :)

Lets get the COMPONENTS file uploaded to see if I can work out what is going on.

SFCFix Collect COMPONENTS
 1. Download SFCFix.exe (by niemiro) and save this to your Desktop.
 2. Download SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.
 3. On your Desktop, you should now see two files: SFCFix.exe and SFCFixScript.txt.
 4. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
 5. SFCFix will now begin to upload your CBS logfiles to our server.
 6. Upon completion, a log should be created on your Desktop: SFCFix.txt.
 7. Copy (Ctrl+C) and Paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of this into your next post for me to analyse please - put

tags around the log to break up the text.

If all goes well, you should see that your logfiles have now been added to your thread.

Hello again geremias

Sorry to say but I dont have very good new for you. The COMPONENTS hive can not be loaded into the registry, I have had a look over the data for the COMPONENTS hive to try and work ut why it wont load but it looks like the way it is meant to be. In cases like this there is no other office that to do fresh install of Windows. What I would recommend from here is to back up all your important data to an external HDD or DVD/CD's. I will have another look at the hive tomorrow but I dont think this can be recovered.

Alex

Your welcome, sorry that there was no better solution for you. I had another look at registry hive and it looks the way it is supposed to.
