I have a Windows 8.1 Pro system and was having problems with backing up and general system operation.
The Harddrive seemed to be operating a lot and the Western Digital Smartware was running VERY Slowly
This all seemed to be connected to a lot of windows system files 'taking over' the hard disk usage sometimes 100% for long periods of time. Even when I wasn't using the computer.
Initially I thought it was the amount of data the Smartware was processing - but other times the usage was less than 10% and I was using the system for 3D CAD at the same time.
The computer always seemed to go funny when it realised there was an update - I have it so I determine when to download etc.
I almost always update every 2-3 weeks or when I notice things going wonky.
Disconnected the Smartware, but still the problems persisted not all the time but a lot of the time.
The programs ran fine - sometimes slow due to disk activity by windows files etc
Then there was an update that failed - I was intrigued
Eventually I was directed here and Tried SFCFix took about 50 minutes
Image version 6.3.9600.17031
error 0x800f0906
source code could not be downloaded
I am going to try and find a solution to this
cheers Eldog
