I just noticed that my Windows updates are failing to install. KB2975719, KB2538243, KB2993651, KB2975061, KB2962409, KB2990967 All fail to install, with a few different errors. the errors are 80070246, 80010108, 80200001 and 80080008.

I tried the WindowsUpdateDiagnostic.diagcab to fix the problems but after that gets done fixing the problems it finds they all still fail again.

Any thoughts?

After reading through some of the other questions and answers I have now run the SFCFix tool and it returns
Error: 582
An illegal character was encountered. For a multi-byte character set this includes a lead byte without a succeeding trail byte. For the Unicode Character set this includes the characters 0xFFFF and 0xFFFE

Hi rtkkohl,

I think this is similar to Another issue I had with Windows update not installing all updates. It's not exactly the sameI didn't know about the SFCFix at that time either. Anyway, try deleting all Windows updates, then download and install them again. This solved the issue for me. I guess some file became corrupted and blocked the others after it, or something like that. Yes, it will take some time, since there are quite a lot of updates, but at least this worked for me.

Good luck! :)

Hi STJ,

Problem is that the first one listed under Microsoft Windows is KB2969339 and there is no uninstall for that one. In fact that is the last one that was installed and nothing since then. The date on that one is 6/24/2014 and there has been no Microsoft Windows system updates since then but there have been Office updates since then.

Anyone else have any thoughts? Maybe how to uninstall KB2969339 or any other angle?

Just wondering if anyone had a chance to look at the file I uploaded or if you need additional information. I am new to the forums so I am not sure how long it takes to get a response so I apologize if it seems like I am being pushy.

Sorry for the delay here, there is an a few errors (11,4888 to be exact) with the following description:

I have never seen this error before and I am currently researching to try and work it out. This may take a few days.

Thanks

I tried that and it started to run but when the dos window closed no file was created and now if I try to run it a second time it doesn't work.

Is there a way I can try it again?

Rich

I deleted the two files, re-downloaded them again and then tried to run it again but it still is not creating a file.
