[SOLVED] windows 8.1 update and windows 10 installation

Hi my windows 8.1 give me error 800703f1 on windows update

and give me error 80070004-0x2000D when installing windows 10.

I have tried doing dism, sfc scannow, net stop 4 stuff, and everything to no avail.

the following are some of the windows 8.1 updates that are unable to be installed.

I tried installing windows 10 using the media creation tool on both options "on this pc" and make a USB. with the correct version of windows 8.1 64bit (single language edition). did the ISO installation but windows8.1 64bit single language cd key isnt recognized by windows 10 home.

on windows 8.1, I also tried manually installing the updates but they unsuccessfully install.. also did refreshing with the DVD and isnt successful.

Hi aura, advance thank you for your help.

The status of the computer is still the same, unable to install all the above listed updates and gives same error 800703f1. while windows 10 installation gives me error 80070004-ox2000D.

I have attempted doing a reset to factory setting. probably the last option I want to do as of the moment.

Alright, let's start with a SFC scan then :)

System File Checker (SFC)
Follow the instructions below to run a SFC scan on your system and to provide the CBS log in your next reply;

On Windows Vista & 7, click on the Windows Start Menu, then enter cmd in the search box, right-click on the cmd icon and select

Run as Administrator
On Windows 8, drag your cursor in the bottom-left corner, and right-click on the metro menu preview, then select Command Prompt (Admin);
On Windows 8.1, right click on the Windows logo in the bottom-left corner and select Command Prompt (Admin);
Enter the command below and press on Enter;

Note: There's a space between "sfc" and "/scannow";
Once the scan is complete, enter the command below and press on Enter

copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
```
A file called cbs.txt will have appeared on your Desktop. Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;

Note: Please note that the CBS.log is volatile, which means that if you don't upload it after the SFC scan is completed, it won't contains the information from the scan anymore. So archive it and upload it as soon as you can.

It seems like your COMPONENTS Hive cannot be loaded. Upload it for me please.

Retrieving the COMPONENTS Hive
Follow the instructions below to retrieve your COMPONENTS Hive and send me it.

Open your Windows Explorer, and navigate to the C:\Windows\System32\Config folder;
In this folder, find the COMPONENTS file (there's no extension), and copy it to your Desktop;
Note: If you receive an error message saying that the COMPONENTS file is in use, restart your computer and try again. If the error message persist, let me know.
Right-click on it, and select Send to... and choose Compressed (zipped) folder;
Upload the file on Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive and post the download URL for it here;

Awesome, the SFC scans are now going throught :) Follow the instructions below please.

SFCFix - Run Only
Follow the instructions below to download and execute SFCFix, and provide the log.

Download SFCFix and move the executable on your Desktop;
Right-click on SFCFix.exe and select

Run as Administrator;
Follow the instructions displayed in the console;
On completion, a log will open in Notepad. Copy and paste the content of that log in your next reply;
Note: The log (SFCFix.txt) will be created in the same directory where SFCFix is run if it doesn't open automatically on completion.

It seems that the fix worked without needed the second part. Can you try to install the updates you listed in the first post now? If they fail, upload the following files for me please.

Updates installed. I restarted the computer. And not its stuck on "preparing to configure windows. Do not turn off your computer." I think its taking too long to configure
