Curiously, there were only 7 important updates found, down from 74 when I started having these problems (So we must be making some sort of progress?) But the Windows Update ran all last night for around 12 hours, seemingly stuck on 0%: So this morning, I canceled it, then I rebooted and tried Windows Update again. This time, it finished pretty fast (about a minute or so) but only installed 1 out of the 7 updates, failing with error code 80070BC9:

Therefore, please restart your computer, and once done, run Windows Update again. If updates fail to install, please upload the WindowsUpdate.log and CBS.log files for me again.

Aura Sysnative Staff, Security Analyst Staff member Joined Mar 16, 2015 Posts 8,061 Jan 11, 2016 #29 Can you try to install the second update, "Security Update for Windows 8.1 for x64-based Systems (KB3132372)", only and if it fails, upload the CBS.log and WindowsUpdate.log again for me to check? Make sure you uncheck the other updates under both the Important and Optional tab.

I ingersoj Active member Joined Dec 29, 2015 Posts 26 Jan 11, 2016 #32 I have the Windows 8.1 x64 installation ISO (which I also burned to a DVD) that I downloaded from Microsoft, as I explained in my first post. It's what I used to try to do a repair install.

Code: DISM /image:X:\ /cleanup-image /revertpendingactions You need to replace X: with the letter atrributed to your Windows drive (the partition contained the Windows installation) while you are in the Recovery PE of your DVD. If you're not comfortable with that, I'll post more detailled instructions, just let me know :)
