Hello,
I can't update Windows 8.1 since few weeks.
I've ran SFCFix and icav03.rat seems to be corrupted in WinSxS.
I've joined SFCFix.txt

Can you do something for me please.

Thank you.

The above error in red is one of the ones that we do not (currently) have a fix for. What I did before was replace the version on your machine with a non corrupt one, but SFC is still reporting that the file can not be decompressed.

  2. Download SFCFixScript.txt, and save this to your Desktop. Ensure that this file is named SFCFixScript.txt - do not rename it.

  4. Drag the file SFCFixScript.txt onto the file SFCFix.exe and release it.
  5. SFCFix will now begin to upload your CBS logfiles to our server.

If all goes well, you should see that your logfiles have now been added to your thread.

What is the next step?
Because, due to this bug, I'm not abled to run Windows updates (KB2977629, KB2977765, KB2988948, 2975719, KB2998527).
Otherwise, I can't install or update some softwares. Process fail with this message : key not valid for use in specified state.

Honestly, this may take a while. As I said there is no fix set in place to resolve this straight away.

If you do not have the time to wait, then I would suggest backing up your files and either do a repair install of Windows or fresh install.

Alex

No problem, I can wait.
I don't want to repair windows : one, I have upgraded Windows 8 to 8.1 by Windows Store, and so, I don't have install DVD and I can't download one on Microsoft donwload, and two, even if I had the DVD, reparing Windows means reinstall all applications, and I prefer not.
Do you have an idea why Windows is in this state?

Some informations I forgot, but can be usefull.
I've executed chkdsk /f /r and there is no bad sector on the hard drive.
When I try to execute manualy Windows update (with .msu file), there is an error in events log : "The system has attempted to load or restore a file into the registry, but the specified file is not in a registry file format". Can components registry hive be corrupted?

Hello,
Didn't you find any solution?
I've seen yesterday that I have 12 updates waiting now.

Done.
What is the next step?
Because, due to this bug, I'm not abled to run Windows updates (KB2977629, KB2977765, KB2988948, 2975719, KB2998527).

Something strange happend. KB2977765, KB2988948 are not longer in the queue and 7 updates dated October 16 and 17 were installed.
There are now 6 updates in queue
KB2977765, KB2975719, KB2998527 from September and 3 dated October 14.

Hello,

I know that refreshing windows should not make me loose any data. But I have many applications installed, and refreshing windows will make me loose applications, and I will have to reinstall. It will take a long time...
And I upgraded my PC from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. I can't repair with the Windows 8 DVD, and I can't donwload Windows 8.1 DVD ISO file from Microsoft.
It's not fun...

So, thank you for all, and I will see what I can do...

Laurent
