I built a gaming PC for my friend and originally installed Windows 7 on it. He recently put in a new HDD and installed Windows 8 and then later updated to 8.1. It worked fine till 8.1 was installed. The only apparent problem was that it wouldn't connect to the internet (hardwired). I opened the command prompt (Admin) and typed sfc/scannow and then ran the sfc fix. After the first run it said some problems could not be fixed and it required a restart. I restarted the PC and can now connect to the internet. I ran the sfc/scannow and it said there are persisting problems so I ran the sfc fix again. These are the results that I got. And also, I (my friend) no longer has the Windows 8 discs to reinstall. There are games on the PC too that can't be gotten back. I'd like to fix the problems without losing anything but if it's not an option then I'm fine with it.

Hello wam24 and welcome to the forum :)

If you upload the following file for me I can confirm if any other corruptions are being detected by SFC:

Convert CBS.log to CBS.txt
  1. Right click on the
    aa922834-ed43-40f1-8830-d5507badb56c_39.jpg
    button
  2. Click on Run => Inside the run box copy and paste the following command:
    Code:
    cmd /c copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"
  3. Press Enter
  4. Once this has completed please go to your Desktop and you will find CBS.txt => Please upload CBS.txt to this thread
Please Note:: if the file is too big to upload to you next post please upload via Dropbox or One Drive
