To Whom This May Concern

This is my first posting in sysnative.
I suddenly started getting BSOD with DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL
I run sfc /scannow
which tells me it has corrected the issues
I also run DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
which tells me it cannot eliminate the corruption.

Result of DISM execution: View attachment dism___20180908___235746.zip
Result of SFC execution: View attachment CBS___20180907___1118.zip

Can you guys help me? The computer is randomly restarting currently once a day ! wtf

cheers

Hello and welcome!

Please run SFC Scan again and attach CBS.log. From what I can see in the logs, this means that the file has been fixed.

Regarding the Blue Screen Errors:

Please go to C:\Windows\Minidump, copy it to the Desktop, zip it up and attach it to your next post for me to review.

Please note I am using Windows 8.0 64bit
The results of SFC /scannow are
==========================================
Microsoft Windows [Version 6.2.9200]
(c) 2012 Microsoft Corporation. All rights reserved.

C:\Windows\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Beginning verification phase of system scan.
Verification 100% complete.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files and successfully repaired
them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For
example C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not
supported in offline servicing scenarios.

C:\Windows\system32>

and the CBS.log : View attachment CBS.zip

please note: though SFC says that the issue is resolved, it keeps repeating the same message every time I run it.
So, obviously it isn't resolved.

I have lots of software programs on my laptop which I cannot risk failing after the upgrade.
This is the sole reason for not having done so.

Are you certain that the upgrade would solve the issue?

I have lots of software programs on my laptop which I cannot risk failing after the upgrade.
This is the sole reason why I have not upgraded so far.

I can confirm that all the software that works on 8 works on 8.1. Worst case scenario you could make a system image beforehand, so you could restore Win8 back if for some reason 8.1 doesn't satisfy your needs.

If you are however adamant not to upgrade and want to fix this system, let me know.

Please help me with this.
I am on a business trip and have nothing with me. I will be back to my own office in a month time.
I cant risk loosing anything.

QUESTION: If I run the upgrade to windows 8.1 do I risk loosing any of my data? Can you tell me with certainty?

Further on, please note : I have no rescue disc or a Windows CD with me. Its only me and my laptop and the hotel room :(

I completely understand. From my experience, no data should be lost if everything is done correctly. However, since you are a business user, I strongly recommend creating a full system image prior to continuing just to be safe.

I agree, but I dont have any hardware other than my laptop.
I have Acronis True Image 2018 installed but creating an image on my laptop if it is corrupted and want start up wouldn't be much of use.
Is it impossible to help me with the old 8.0 version?

Understood. Let's try and fix this!

Retrieve Components Hive
1. Navigate to C:\Windows\System32\Config and locate the COMPONENTS file.
2. Please copy this file to your desktop.
Note: If you receive an error that this file is in-use, simply reboot your computer and try again.
3. Right-click on this file on your desktop and select Send To...Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file named COMPONENTS.ZIP on your desktop.
4. The file will likely be too large to upload here so please upload to a file sharing service and just provide the link here.

Remove Update Manually
1. Click on the Start button and in the search box, type Command Prompt
2. When you see Command Prompt on the list, right-click on it and select Run as administrator
3. When command prompt opens, copy and paste the following command into it, press enter
wusa /uninstall /KB:2999226

4. Let me know if it says it was successful or if there are any errors.

it run successfully I suppose:

=======================================
C:\Windows\system32>wusa /uninstall /KB:2999226

C:\Windows\system32>
=======================================

(*) it didnt say anything. So I suppose it was successful. Or not?

Please keep in mind that my primary focus is to eliminate the sporadic occurrence of Blue screen with this error message: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

So what do I do next? How do I find out what to uninstall. "Neoteris" doesn't ring a bell.

(*) thanks you for not forgetting me.
